On May 17th, 2018, renowned flutist Jun Gao was lost to an unexpected and tragic accident. Only 34 years of age, Mr. Gao was a beloved teacher, husband, and father, who taught hundreds of aspiring young musicians in the Bay Area and beyond, especially through the California Youth Chinese Symphony based in Santa Clara. Gao leaves behind a wife and two toddlers under the age of five. While we are all heartbroken to see him go, his infectious smile and passion for life will always remain strong in our hearts.
